What's Included

What lightning rod repair & reinstallation includes

Every system is planned around your structure and local conditions, with the goal of following recognized industry standards such as NFPA 780.

Re-roof reinstallation

Air terminals and conductors reinstalled on the new roof with fasteners suited to the new roofing material.

Storm damage repair

Bent or missing air terminals, loose conductors, and broken fasteners repaired after hail and wind.

Reconnection & bonding

Connections checked and restored, and new vents or rooftop equipment bonded into the system.

Grounding check

Down conductors and ground connections checked, since they're easy to damage during roof and site work.

Working with your roofer

Roofers often have to remove a lightning protection system to replace the roof. The best time to call us is before the old roof comes off. We can talk with your roofer about timing, remove the system or advise on what to save, and reinstall it once the new roof is on. If the roof is already done and the rods are sitting in the yard or the garage, call anyway.

After a storm

Hail and high wind can bend air terminals, knock them loose, or pull conductors away from the roof. A system with broken connections may not carry a strike safely to ground. After a major storm, it's worth a look, especially if roofers are already on the property for storm repairs.

Systems someone else installed

We repair and reinstall systems regardless of who put them in originally, including older systems on homes, barns, and churches. If parts are missing or worn out, we'll tell you what should be replaced. Our goal is for every system to follow recognized industry standards such as NFPA 780. If the roof work is part of an insurance claim, ask your adjuster about the lightning protection system; we can give you a written estimate for the reinstall.

FAQ

Lightning Rod Repair & Reinstallation FAQ

My roofer took my lightning rods off. Can you put them back?

Yes. We reinstall systems after roof replacement, using fasteners suited to the new roof and checking every connection and ground along the way.

When should I call you during a re-roof?

Before the old roof comes off, if you can. That gives us a chance to coordinate with your roofer on timing and on which parts can be reused.

Can storm damage stop a lightning protection system from working?

It can. Bent or loose air terminals and broken conductor connections can leave gaps in the path to ground, so it's worth having the system checked after a major storm.

Can you repair a system another company installed?

Yes. We repair and reinstall systems regardless of who installed them, and we'll tell you honestly if parts should be replaced.
